best-day-ever

Maya at the Fire Station
She was not herself- she's been cutting her last molar and has been up in the middle of the night,
the night before this particular photo, she was mad that she didn't have her shoes on...in bed
I know, these type of things keep me awake for over an hour at 3am too...
At this point in the fire station visit- the firefighters were called away on a real call,
she didn't want to go in the big fire truck, so we hijacked this little one outside.

Second generation at the spot...

Me & my girls:)
I had to post some of these- I'm never actually in the photos!

I've really made some baby steps- when Kalia first started pre-school, I never would have taken the girls out to do something major afterwards. I just wanted to cuddle and play at home. The same with Maya and going to Celena's- we needed our time after. But today, after we got the girls from school and Celena's- we packed the boards and headed south. The girls had fun, they rock climbed, cheered for mommy surfing, played with uncle greg, were filthy and got to eat turkey dogs grilled at the beach for dinner. Best Day Ever- well, I'm just saying that because we are all saying it- all the time. Thanks Tutu for the Tangled DVD- (that's where we go it from) we are all loving it. Maya was on Kalia's old tricycle outside the other day saying, "BEST DAY EVER!". Really cute.

april girls

morning cuddles

playing at the mall
they were having a blast- maya made a little friend too

swim class with coach maya

We've been busy the past couple of weeks. Kalia started back at both ballet and swim class. MAPA started doing ballet classes and Kalia is in beginning ballet wednesdays and swim class is thursday mornings in Lahaina.

So tonight we were reading the book "BIG LITTLE" - and I was asking Maya whether different things were big or little and I started to say, "Is Daddy Big or Little?" she said, "Big". "Is Mommy Big or Little?" , she said, "Big". "Is Maya Big or Little?" she said, "Little," "Is Kalia Big or Little?", she said, "Little." Kalia looked at her, looked at me and said, "Medium".

What else is going on around here? Maya has been revolting against her nap or really against all rules in this horrible dictatorship in which she lives and has absolutely no say in. It's terrible living conditions- I don't know how she does it! But it is a dictatorship and so she continues to take her nap, but not always happily as before. Last night she woke up several times and at one point told me that she was done and ready to get up for the day - it was 1am. I think at one point the issue was that the skin between her shirt and pants was exposed...

On wednesday, I picked Kalia up from school and told her in the car that we might walk to ballet, in the stroller- since it's just down the street. But by the time I got everyone dressed and ready to go - I just started to head to the car and Kalia was ready to get in the car. Maya started to walk down the street and said, "No, I want to walk in the stroller." She was listening in the car!

Yesterday, Kalia wanted to see a picture of her old toddler bed and so we went through some blog photos and then I kept looking. I still cannot believe that Maya is the same age as Kalia was when I started the blog. I really couldn't believe that my Kalia is getting to be such a big girl and so independent. And I could cannot believe that my baby is turning into a little girl with her own ideas about the world. I feel so grateful that I still have my morning cuddles with Maya and that Kalia still wants her mommy time too!

beach park & afternoon at ironwoods

morning at the park
The girls wanted to go to the park with daddy & mommy,
so before erik had to go to work we all headed down.
Then we met Scarlett & Celia and headed to the beach area.
The girls had fun climbing on the tree- fun day!

scarlett & kalia

Thursday Erik had a meeting on Oahu- so we played at Napili Park in the morning
and went for our favorite afternoon hike at Ironwood. It was a fun girls day,
the girls were saying, "we're on the moon!"

If you were wondering what happened with Kalia and the "apology"- here's what happened. Ot was going on for so long that we ended up going with a great suggestion by Celia- to brainstorm with Kalia a way that she could do something thoughtful and kind for our neighbor. In the end she made him a nice card (wrote out his name and hers) and helped me bake something and took it over to him and she told him, "I made you these cookies and this card for you." I really wasn't sure if she would actually go through it- but I also said that she couldn't just make these things and not personally go and tell him that they were for him and that she made it for him. That was on Monday. Yesterday, we hadn't seen him in a few days and she was wondering when we would see him next...

When Erik was on Oahu- he surfed and ended up with a scratch on his chest. Maya was a little alarmed when she saw it and said, "Mommy are you worried about Daddy's Ichy?" I said, "You mean his owie? No, I'm no worried". She said, "No, I worried about Daddy owie." She seriously blows me away with her language and comprehension.
