august fun

First photo is of Kalia sitting in a tree at Lahaina Harbor during her cousin Tanner's contest. Last week we took Daddy to the aquarium, Kalia and I have a season pass, but Daddy hadn't been in a while. The photo with Daddy and Kalia's signature "cheese" smile, they are looking at the hammerheads.

Kalia has been our little rock star lately. She loves to put her pretend microphone to her mouth and sing crazy made up songs. Just before this video she was standing on the bed singing for a long time and the only word we could make out was "armpit". Erik and I were laughing so hard!

Tutu and Grandpa have been here since Friday with us and it's going to be hard in 5 days when they leave. They went to a show tonight with their friends and Kalia was saying all night, "Grandpa, Tutu...Tutu where are you?"

kimo's longboard photos

These photos are from the beginning of june at the Kimo's longboard contest at Mala Wharf, but we just got the copies.

erik's request

Erik's been working so much the past couple of weeks that he hasn't had time to call his family and wanted me to put these things on the blog:

1. Kalia has been coming up to him and saying "Daddy, let's wrestle".

2.The other day at story time at the coffee store, when they were asking for requests for songs, Kalia stood up and said "how about ba sheep" (ba, ba black sheep). This is huge for her because she usually doesn't say much at these things. But she loves to sing. She seems to always have a song stuck in her head. I must say "how about" a lot because it seems to be her favorite beginning of the sentence, such as "how about a popcicle mommy".

3. The other night after her bath I said "I love you Kalia" and she said "I yove you" and we went back and forth "no, i love you" for a long time...erik loved it. She still pronounces her "l" like "y".

Now for what I wanted to mention--another one of Kalia's phrases lately is "mommy, don't eat it all gone." I guess I've been indulging in too many of her snacks lately. Still on my psycho cleaning rampage and erik has been going along with it as much as he can stand. Kalia's been a real trooper too. Can't wait until Olympics are over so erik and i can get some sleep. Tonight Kalia made her naked baby run away and hide in our pillows like she does after her bath.

going fishing with daddy

The first photo is Kalia's cheesy smile, every time the camera comes out we get this smile!
Erik went fishing last Tuesday night with a couple of friends. The next day we took Kalia down to the fishing spot and the two guys were still fishing! Kalia loved seeing the fish they caught and immediately stuck out her hand to touch them...who's kid is this? Erik threw out his pole a few times and every time Kalia would yell, "yeah, daddy!". He had his own little cheering squad. But she was also yelling "yeah, waves"! Unfortunately, Jason who had been fishing all night was trying to sleep and Kalia can yell pretty loud. She also was singing and climbing all over the lava rock, she was having a good time. I think Erik found his fishing partner.

Kalia has been riding her tricycle up and down the street. Every day we have to take her baby for a walk in her baby stroller, all around the condos. She's a very attentive mother. She has also been helping me clean, since I'm feeling better and now feel like the house is a dirty mess! Early nesting?

bouncy castles, cake and juice...oh, my! birthday party o.d.

Friday was our 5th birthday party in 2 weeks. As I carried a crying Kalia to the car, after she watched the bouncy castle deflate and be put away, I was done. She cried the whole way home..."my castle"...."I want 2 more cupcakes"..."I want more juice".
Hopefully, we will have a little sugar break before the next birthday party. I had to explain to her that the bouncy castle had to go to sleep to get ready for the next party. Even last night, as I was putting her to bed she told me that the "castle" was also going to sleep.
Kalia has been singing into her imaginery microphone, well actually screaming at the top of her lungs. It's pretty funny, most of the time.
We walked to the park this morning and met Wyatt and Sandy for a swing and a swim. It was really low tide and they climbed over the reef and chased fish. They are really lucky to grow up in such a beautiful place. They think it's totally normal to spend the morning at a beautiful beach, climb over the lava rocks and dig in the sand.
