fishing with papa

The Hendricksons fishing at secret spot

Maya cruising

Come on Papa!

Kalia had set up a championship
There was a race, jumping to reach the highest branch,
and throwing a rock in the ocean for distance.
Uncle Greg, Maya & Daddy tied for the win.

a day at slaughterhouse

Last friday was Spirit Day at Sacred Hearts
Papa and I arrived at the end and this is where
they were all singing the school song.
The school was divided into two teams:
blue & white
Kalia was on the white team,
the Kindergarteners did championship bean bags.
Kalia made all her bean bags in:)

Family day at Slaughterhouse
Going to check out the cave.
The waves were pretty big that day,
so we dug a big hole, the girls made snow angels,
they played on this big boulder and did some rock walking.
Erik and I got a little swimming/body surfing in.

Look, we're in a cave!

Rock climbing,
Kalia is quite the expert.

View of the beach

Me and Maya
Decided to throw one in,
I usually don't make the blog:)

She was really into it.

Being silly with Papa

Let's see what's been happening. Well, we've been having lots of fun with Papa. He just left and first thing yesterday morning, Maya said, "where's papa". I think she got used to him being here. Kalia has been really impressing me with her reading, she's been reading the level 1 books, with short sentences. With some help on the more challenging words, but I'm really impressed and excited! Picked up some new ones at the library yesterday. Every night I ask the girls what "movie" they want me to put in- it's something I used to do for my sister when she was little. It's just a pretend movie that I pretend to put in and plug into their heads to dream about at night. Maya has been saying that she wants a "Kalia" movie to dream about and tonight she wanted a "mommy" movie "because I love you". Kalia's movies lately have been "school" or "strawberry shortcake".

Maya went to the dentist today and she did great and was all good with her teeth. Although we need to work on the thumb sucking...

Kalia and I have a dentist appointment in two weeks, I had to reschedule mine and she was scheduled on Valentine's day- but this was unacceptable for her! That is a holiday and maybe she will have something to do! OK...

our final day

Our "rustic" cabin
We stayed in Pupukea, above Foodland
in this really cool cabin.
It was a higher elevation and cooler,
the girls and I would cruise in the morning
at the cabin and then meet up with everyone
late morning.

The view
You can see the ocean in the way background

Tuesday- contest on.

Tanner about to paddle out
I couldn't take photos during the contest,
we were too nervous
and I hate to jinx things.

Big sets

There were some monster sets,
in fact at one point I had to move the girls,
our shoes and phone to higher ground.
I swear the announcer was talking to me when he said,
"you're children can get wet, save your phone!"

Tanner advanced!
Tanner and the girls before we left for home.
Now we really wished we could have stayed for the very
exciting Wednesday heats. Tanner making it all the way to the
semi-finals! So exciting! Great job Tanner, so stoked for you!

Waimea

Monday at Waimea
The surf was too big to hold the contest.
The girls and I were lazy at the cabin in the morning,
the boys were out checking the surf early.
Late morning at Waimea

Kalia
She lost tooth number two the night before.
The tooth fairy found her on Oahu
and she got a small bonus because
she pulled it out at Ted's Bakery the night before.

Waimea

Lunch at Shark Cove
I missed lunch at Pupukea Grill,
I really wanted to eat at all the trucks.

Waiting for lunch,
since we didn't call our order in like the regulars...
We left way before Tanner & Papa and their order
was about 4 before us (30 minutes)
