More Bazaar

Day 2:
Kalia getting a tattoo with Kylee
It was sort of weird because, it was the tattoo that they sprayed on
and I had this flash forward 10 years and saw Kylee saying to
Kalia, "come on Kalia, let's get a tattoo".
The guy giving the tattoos was rocking out
and so was Maya, she was dancing all around the room.
She's so funny.

Movie Night
Friday was the last day of school before spring break
and we had movie night.
The girls are sitting in their baby strollers,
waiting for "Puss in Boots" - they loved it.
Maya didn't even realize that Kalia
had moved to the couch (she was scared)
for a half an hour she was so into the movie.
Kalia has been quoting it.

Maya has rediscovered her Little Mermaid costume,
and fits into it!
Here Kalia posed her using her blue Cinderella dresses
as the ocean. Kalia was getting a little frustrated
with the model's lack of direction following.

Big News!
Kalia lost tooth #3
It literally popped out yesterday
and there are already two big teeth in the place
of the where 3 used to be. It's going to be a crowded mouth!
The tooth fairy came last night and left Kalia a 2 dollar
bill, both Erik and I have offered to pay her $3 for it,
she is still considering the offer.
Spring Break
Maya went to Auntie Carol's today
and Kalia and I had a breakfast date at Duke's.
Here was our view.

It's so funny how suddenly an old toy/stuffed animal will be so coveted by both girls. Right now is this horsey stuffed animal that Papa gave to Maya a couple years ago, maybe when she was just a baby. Now both girls find that they can't live without it. So now we have a schedule. Kalia sleeps with it at night and Maya can have it for naps and to take to Auntie Carols.

Cruising with the Butler Boys

Riding the spinning ride with Daddy

Going down the big slide with Kylee.
This was a challenging night with Maya-
she didn't want to be left behind, but couldn't keep
up with the big girls.

Waiting in line for the spinning ride.

Again, it's been a while. I ended up with bronchitis and still a lot of coughing around this house. Now Erik and Maya are coughing. We had a super fun visit with my parents- they helped me do a bunch of stuff around the house. Our broken screen door handle- is now fixed. What, it's only been since August, but now it is fully functional. I got a new bedskirt and curtains and there are talks of painting our room in July. Yeah! Thanks Mom & Dad!

We also survived our 1st Sacred Hearts Bazaar. Erik worked both nights the entire time, but we did break him out for a quick ride on the spinning ride. Kalia liked being able to go "behind the scenes" in the Leilani's booth and it was nice that there was a meeting place since Kalia ran around with Kylee for a little bit. My baby is growing up. Of course, even with that little bit of freedom, it's not enough. Kylee got to stay late and she got the wristband to go on unlimited rides... Oh the injustice of it all! Meanwhile, Maya was distraught because Kalia was running off with Kylee and she didn't want to be left behind. Each day we got there right when it opened at 4pm and left by 7pm (when the crowds came and I swear I will do this every year).

Quick Maya story: The other day I was sweeping up the bathroom and Maya was watching me and she said, "Mommy, are you cleaning the floor?" and I said, "Yes, I am." and she looked at me so seriously and nodded her head and said slowly, "Good, good job". It was pretty cute, my little supervisor.

Maya's 1st Haircut & Kalia's Field Trip

Well, she 's 3 and yes, we've never cut her hair.
She didn't even want to cut it, but it was time.
I had to cut Kalia's hair first for Maya to be OK with it.
In fact, on Monday we asked Maya if we could cut her hair
and she said, "No, not today. We can do it on Tuesday."
I told her, "Great! Tomorrow is Tuesday." She did not reply.

Pretty much the finished product-
what a big girl!

I got to chaperone Kalia's whale watch on Wednesday.
Here is Kalia with her buddy Danna.

Her class waiting for the boat.

Kylee & Kaylyn

Zack and Taj

On the boat!

We saw a ton of whales. There were only 8 kids that went from her class, since a lot of the kids get seasick. Two of the little girls from Kalia's class felt terrible once on board. Not Kalia, she dragged me up and down and all around the boat.

It's been a while...

I apologize- it's been a very long time! It's been pretty busy and I haven't been taking very many photos. This past week, Tutu and Grandpa have been visiting. We completely re-arranged the living room, something I have been wanting to do and eating our way through all of west Maui. It's been a good week! I will take a photo of our new living room, when it's not quite the disaster that it is right now. Above are the Valentine's that we made for school and Auntie Carol's. I figured this was the year to do it- not sure how Kalia would feel next year about giving out a photo of herself. I'm being completely serious- Kindergarten has definitely put us into the next phase of Kalia and to be honest, it's a little scary. She has strong opinions, I am not always right, in fact lately I'm wrong quite often and she's only 5...

Cuddles with Tutu

Kalia was Hoku of the week two weeks ago and as part of her Hoku (star) responsibilities, was to pick her favorite animal and make a habitat diorama. This is Kalia at Mala collecting shells, sand and rocks in the water in her uniform. Luckily I had extra clothes. Her favorite animal is a dolphin and it was quite the project! I forgot to take a photo of the finished product, so when it comes home I will- I know, it's really not like me. I'm just not myself lately.

On a Saturday recently, it was very windy, but we needed to get out of the house. We were all feeling cooped up and needed to get out into the elements. We went up to the labyrinth and it was very windy, we got rained on, waves splashed on us, Kalia found us shelter and it was overall pretty fantastic. The girls checking out the "offerings" left by others in the center of the labyrinth. Happy to say that each of us walked the entire thing.

It's windy!

Starting to rain- find the shelter!

Maya right next to the entrance to the "bedroom" in the shelter.

Our shelter under this tree, it didn't completely keep the rain out- as Kalia pointed out, but did keep us much drier when the rain was heavy. Good spot for some graham crackers and a beer (for me and Erik of course).

Climbing in the elements

President's Day
We met Scarlett at Whaler's Village and took the Kaanapali Trolley around.
Watching the penguins at the Hyatt and then to lunch. Fun day!
