soccer and a beach day

Kalia's 2nd Soccer Game
I like this photo because you can see Erik on the side running after balls.
He really loves this!

The quite serious ref talking to the girls.

Erik likes this one because Kalia is smiling at me and Maya and not really paying attention to what's going on.

The Pink Pandas!

Ugg- can't get this to go the correct direction.
More of Kalia's paper works, this was a large envelope that was delivered by mail.

Inside was this house and these two dolls.

And this house and these two dolls.  If you open the door, you can see the interior of the home.

Family day at Mala

The girls played for hours in the water.
Poor things were fried- we all were!
Erik got to surf twice and we all had a great day.

So for the past couple of weeks, the girls have been wanting to sleep together.  They both want to sleep in Kalia's room.  The first night I let them and they went right to sleep- it was amazing.  The second night they played a little and so therefore didn't get to sleep together until the weekend.  Since we made them sleep apart for a while, when they did get to sleep again- I haven't heard a peep from them.  Tonight, a school night they went right down.  I just worry that Maya will keep Kalia awake, since she takes a nap, but I think even if she stays up, Kalia falls asleep and Maya is happy that she isn't alone.  They can be fighting before in the tub, but the minute they get to sleep together, they are just so happy.  Let's see how long this lasts...

Our Fun Weekend

Kalia's 1st soccer game!

Two Saturdays ago, we had a big day.  I got up at 4am to leave to run with my team in the Hana Relay.  I had us all packed for Erik's big day- hula class, soccer pictures, soccer game and then drive to Hana to meet me at the finish line!  But we made it (me just barely- it was a lot of running and lots of hills!) and Erik did great and so did the kids making it all the way to Hana!

Look - no legs!
Here shorts are so long and socks so tall, she's all black!

Uncle Greg came to watch the game.

I love this shot of Maya!
All these photos are courtesy of Erik and I will let him fill in his commentary soon.  Well, on Erik time, which could be who knows when:)

The Sassy Six Pack
Hana Relay
I survived, although there were moments when I thought I might not.  But it was fun, we had such a fun great team!

After Erik and the girls met me in Hana, we stayed at the finish party for a while.  Then headed for a swim at Hana Bay and then to the house where we were staying.  All the kids outside.  I didn't take very many photos.  But basically the kids had a blast- running around with their friends like wild animals until late into the night and then waking up and doing it all over again.  The next morning, we did some little nature walks in the back yard and then headed to Hamoa beach for some bodysurfing.  Then the Hendricksons headed home.  I had to drive because somehow in my old age- I now get very car sick.  Had to drive the relay car for most of the way as well!

The girls at our stop at Honomanu Beach

I ask for a nice pose and this is what I get.
But the girls did awesome in the car, so I have no complaints.
We can do Hana, well they can, I get carsick...

Erik, the rock skipping champion of the Hendrickson family (this is not saying much).

What we've been up to...

Sorry, it's been crazy around here and I have a lot of catching up to do.  I took these a while back because Kalia has been crazy about her paper crafts.  This one is a bird she made one day.

Then she had an airline and this was the meal that was served.  A glass of juice and a packet of lollipops- this is a kids dream airline!

Kalia started Hula on Saturdays and we went and watched a performance at the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel.  She was supposed to watch the show with another new girl and their big hula sister.

The girls and I had dinner at Duke's one night while Erik worked and this was the sunset.

On Tuesdays, Maya is now doing tumbling with Coach Sue and loves it.  I mean, it's an absolute perfect fit for her, lots of jumping and she is quite a strong little girl.  I'm only sad we didn't start earlier.  Erik went with us on Tuesday and really enjoyed watching the kids- they are so cute!  Some portions are Mommy and Me, but of course Maya wants to do it all by herself!

The girls eating strawberries at Kaanapali Fresh, a festival at Whaler's Village.  Erik was making veggie/fruit smoothies in the Leilani's booth and we went down to check it out after hula.  They were having fun on the steps.  That night we got to go to the wine and food dinner- thanks Uncle Greg for babysitting, it was a really grown up night for us!

I don't want to make excuses, but it's been busy here with soccer practice, soccer games, hula, school, tumbling, work and trying to do the room mom thing.  Life was a little simpler when we just cruised all day...
