...some ramblings

So Kalia has been mentioning the "P" word lately - Pet. Tonight she asked when she could have a cat. I told her, "maybe we could start with a ...." and she said "dog?" Then we went into what is involved in taking care of a dog - dogs need a lot of care, they need exercise, they need to be cleaned up after, fed, washed and lots of playtime. She told me I could help with her with those things... maybe we will start with a fish.

Maya was so funny after our bath tonight. Let me start out by saying that she was grumpy pants Maya this morning and she isn't like this often, but when she is - boy is she grumpy! Tonight she was crazy, adorable, loving Maya. (And this was after running and I mean running around for 3 hours at the park for Zach's birthday). This is how it went down, I was carrying Kalia as a baby from the bath, wrapped in a towel (yes, we do this to both of them every night) and since Maya came out 1st I brought Kalia (the baby) over for Maya to see. I then put Kalia down next to Maya on the bed:

Maya puts her arm around Kalia: "Oooh baby, oooh so cute! How you feeling? Good?" (the whole time Maya's arm is over Kalia and her thumb rubbing Kalia's arm. "Kalia, Best Friend". Then Maya signals to me, "Come on, Come on" wanting me to come in for a group cuddle. Then after she smiles at both of us and says, "OK, now Maya" and she lays on her back for us to come and cuddle her. Kalia & I were laughing so hard! She did this twice- went to cuddle Kalia, called me in to join and then layed back and said, "OK, now Maya" waiting for us to cuddle her. Then she kept telling Kalia, while I got her milk that "Kalia, Friend".

She was definitely making up for this morning. There's nothing like an almost 2 year old to make you feel totally bi-polar.

car videos

Meant to post these car videos before. It's just the girls pushing each other in Maya's car- fun stuff.

post christmas fun

On Monday, these spoiled girlies got to open another round
of presents from Auntie Kim, Uncle Jay & their cousins
and also from Auntie Lo, Uncle Vere & Cole!

Kalia is showing off her new sparkly shoes from Auntie Kim!

Then on Monday evening we went to the Seahouse
for dinner with Alana (she was going back to CA on wednesday)
At the end of the meal, I took the girls to run on the grass and there was a family of some other kids and Kalia ended up playing Hide & Seek with them. Well, we had been playing before and then Kalia counted and they all joined- it was so fun! Then the little girl started a tag game with Kalia. It really has been amazing to see her grow socially and becoming such a confident kid. Erik had a look of absolute delight on his face when he came over and saw her playing with the kids- total strangers she only met and having a blast!

Tuesday was my trying to do too much day - but it was still pretty fun.
1st we headed to Queen Kaahumanu Center to try to get my sewing machine fixed and I did.
By the way - the people at Sew Special are so amazing & kind, they make me want to spend lots of money on fabric there!
Then I exchanged a few things at Macy's (totally underestimated how huge my children's feet are!) Then as promised- the girls ran around like wild animals at the play area. Kalia saw a girl, Mia from school and they ran and ran and ran and played and played- wow!
Then just to push it - we went to Paia (crazy traffic!) and we had a nice lunch at Flatbread Pizza and then exchange a pair of slippers that also didn't fit Maya's little feet.
And then of course, as I was approaching our precariously parked car (right by the road and couldn't open my door with cars driving by) Maya had a poopy diaper!
But in the immortal words of Dora, "We did it!"
Then by some miracle- both girls transferred into bed (Kalia also fell asleep on the way home)
and I even got a little nap - successful mission!

We have been on a stroller/baby kick.
Outside with our little babies, whatever Kalia did, Maya wanted to do.

This is what happens at dinner time after you have a Daddy Day:)
I had to work today and Kalia was out of school, Celena was planning on watching Maya, so Kalia had Daddy Day. Boy did Daddy run this little one around (you know she's not that active!)
1st: An hour of running around at the park- sliding every which way down the slide.
2nd: Home for Tickle, Wrestles & Pillow Fight
3rd: Lahaina Aquatic Center for swimming - she dove down and swam under water today.
She had such a great time & had chosen these things she wanted to do last night - too cute!

I tried to take them to the grocery store after I picked up Maya and Kalia almost fell asleep against the shopping cart- aborted the mission and headed home for some chill time.

today 12.26.10

This morning: Kapalua
Walk down to Dragon's Teeth & Labrinth

Hiking in our hiking attire,
a princess must always be prepared!

The girls cruising around, talking about how
a dragon brushes his teeth. Well, Kalia was talking
and Maya was repeating.

Taking a break to enjoy a candy cane,
while Daddy cleans their muddy shoes.

Daddy is our hero!
Found a little mini tide pool to clean the clay
off the girls' shoes. It had recently rained and they
were slipping around in the mud.

Labrinth

Maya & Daddy

Here's a set wave!

You know I love the hand holding ones - I don't pose these, they just like to hold hands!

Pushing babies- with their purses & phones:)

See Maya's bag she has on her arm,
this is the one that holds her fruits & vegetables
and they kept falling all over, but she insisted that she carry this bag!

Tonight at Leilani's- we met Alana for dinner,
we had to wait for a table.
Erik was working and made this virgin lave flow for them.
(Yes, Kalia is wearing the tiara- I was a pushover and they also had their babies with them.)

The girls with Alana, Maya is fuzzy, but loved the photo anyway.

What a great Christmas weekend!
Merry Christmas Everyone!

christmas 2010

christmas morning
Santa brought Maya this Cozy Coupe that she loves!
Whenever we go to pick up Kalia at school, if one of these is open,
she will run as fast as she can over to it and claim it for her own.
It is close to impossible to get her out of one of these!

Kalia discovers that not only did the reindeer eat the food & drink the water
and tear up the lawn- again, but one of them left a reindeer bell behind!!!

Maya sporting her new jammies from tutu & grandpa
and her sunglasses from Santa

Although this year -opening present was much faster, (we did have a couple this morning left to open). Kalia still stopped to play and color pictures. We gave her a new set of markers and new coloring book.

Opening stockings

Maya gets play doh - which we tried out for the first time later.
Maya got Kalia the magic swirl play doh ice cream parlor and the
play doh ice cream looked so real, it was hard from trying some...

Kalia helps Maya open her big girl pillow!

OK- here's the story:
I guess when Erik asked Kalia what she wanted to get me for Christmas,
she really, really wanted to get me a Santa hat. It was very important to her and they went all over looking for one. So here I am modeling my gift from Kalia, that she picked out and wrapped for me:)

Maya in her new raincoat from tutu & grandpa

raincoats
You can also see the crib/stroller/bouncy seat that Santa brought for kalia
"Emily" was crying this morning and Kalia had to run and get her from her crib.

Maya playing with her dollhouse from Papa

Papa also go Kalia this tiara and since it looked just like Cinderella's, she then had to put on her Cinderella dress.

So then Maya had to put on her Ariel costume,
trying out her car.

Kalia dressed as Cinderella, playing with the Cinderella doll Auntie Lo & Uncle Vere sent her.

In her dress from Santa, pushing "emily" around the neighborhood.

I don't know if these videos work, but the first is Maya seeing her car & then Kalia seeing the candy cane (it's short) remember- that's what she wanted...

We had a really fun day hanging out and playing all day! Erik got a little surf in and we had a nice dinner together. I put martinelli's sparkling cider in the plastic champagne cups from Kalia's party - Kalia still doesn't like bubbles, Maya drank it up.

christmas eve

Happy Christmas Eve!
Kalia has been placing one magnet, carefully selected, each day until today (we may have lost a magnet or it never came with Christmas day- I don't know). Anyway, she has been excited and sometimes mentions a couple times a day to put the new day up. Christmas Eve was finally here! We got a few last minute things done in the morning, then home for naps.

Early afternoon we made our cookies that we would later decorate for Santa.
Kalia helped cut most of them and at the end I got this one of Maya.

Since last year, the cookie decorating was so competitive, I decided to make it a competition this year and Kalia made decorated the prizes. I wanted to make the prizes for "best cookie for Santa", etc. Kalia wanted to run the contest this way: She would decorate a cookie and the person who could most closely replicated it, would be the winner.

Cookies we made from the kit that Auntie Kim sent - thanks!
We also read the books so many times!!

Kalia's cut cookies

Uncle Greg, Tanner & Alana came over later to hang out.
Erik's cousin Shannin & her baby Nicholas came over for a bit too.
Maya looking at the Santa sign.
We were hanging outside playing horseshoes.

I love the hand holding - probably won't always be like this...

We've been playing on these covers in the grass.

Kalia & Maya with the boys

Family Shot
This was prior to Uncle Greg having the best horseshoe winning streak of his life -
yes, we did hear about it for the rest of the day.

We had "fatties" for dinner and then to decorating the cookies

Finished cookies

Although a few of us got awards for copying Kalia's cookies the best,
Tanner was the overall winner as his were selected by Kalia to be left for Santa.

Leaving the cookies & milk - just right

Outside leaving the reindeer food.
We forgot to get cheerios this year, so they
were given rice crispies & a little bit of Kalia's favorite granola & water.

It was a late night and then everyone was in bed and told that
Santa won't come if there are any "creatures stirring".
