kalia's photography & new photos of the girls

The first four photos Kalia took today of us. She's pretty good, of course there were a dozen more than weren't quite as good. It's been quite a week at home with the girls. Things are either falling into place (Maya sleeping right before I put Kalia down for nap or just before I put Kalia down for bed) or nothing is going my way. We have been getting out - to the park and story time (even after getting about 3 hours of sleep).
Maya had her 1 month appointment and she is 10 lbs. 8 oz. and 22 inches. I made a mistake, I went and looked and Kalia was 10 lbs. at 2 months. So not so bad, but Maya is definitely much bigger - 75% for both height and weight. Kalia was usually 25% maybe for both. I'm giving up dairy for now - maya has had the worst gas - up screaming some nights - after my artichole dip and pizza night. Didn't realize how much cheese, ice cream, butter, cereal & milk i ate. So far she seems better.
Will write more later - maya up and have been typing with one hand.

videos and maya update

I took Maya to the doctor today because we have a little thrush and when the nurse weighed her, I just about fell down. Maya is exactly 10 pounds and 22 inches! She really has been eating! We knew she was chubbier than Kalia was at this age, but Kalia was 10 pounds at 4 months! Kalia better watch out, Maya might be our little brute.

Here's a video...

at home with daddy

kalia saw daddy doing this and wanted to
have Maya lay on her tummy too!

maya's 1st bath in her tub

Erik's been home all week, since my mom left. I've been getting pretty spoiled, he's been taking Maya until her 1st night feeding and then again in the morning. Maya has gone 3 hours without eating, but has been pretty gassy at night still. I need to watch what I've been eating. Erik has been enjoying his time with his girls. Photos above of Maya's 1st bath in her tub, Kalia helped wash Maya's tummy.
We had a great Valentine's Day. Erik cooked a great dinner for us and came home with flowers, balloons for all the girls (Kalia enjoyed the most) and chocolate (Kalia has been getting a little spoiled with daddy at home). We had a family outing to Napili Park on Sunday and Kalia was having a lot of fun. Uncle Greg met us there and then came over later for dinner. Kalia was having so much fun with Daddy and Uncle Greg and asked to be swung around over and over again. They played "run and get it" - Kalia throws the ball and then everyone runs to go get it...and Kalia usually ends up getting to the ball first, 97% of the time.

Maya's 1st Beach Trip & Kalia's 2nd Wave!

We took everyone to the beach today. Maya got her feet sandy and watched her big sister Kalia catch her second wave with Daddy! Can't believe Maya will be 3 weeks tomorrow! We think she's even getting a little chubby (well compared to Kalia when she was this age). I got to have a little Kalia time and took her to her dance class on Monday. Yesterday we made it to the end of story time at Barnes & Noble - surprisingly hard to get out of the house on time!

Tutu leaves us on Friday, but Erik will have the week off for a little family time. It's been great having Tutu here and I don't know if we will be eating as well for a while - until she comes back. Plus, I haven't done the dishes in 3 weeks!

Erik let me sleep in this morning - 2 3/4 hours in a row of sleep!!! I felt like a new woman.

buenas dias

giving Maya's toes a kiss

Kalia is really into the show "Dragon Tales" right now. We actually use it as a bribe to get her to sleep at night and for her nap. She is constantly pretending she is going to Dragonland and singing songs from the show. She learned this "buenas dias" song the other day from the show and has been singing it non stop. Here is a video of her singing the song to Maya.

The other day after we had lunch at Leilani's, Kalia was telling tutu, aunty lo and myself that her tummy was very full and big - like mommy's and daddy's. Nothing like a little kid to tell it to you like it is.

photo shoot

We had a little photo shoot yesterday for Maya's announcement. We tried to do one with Kalia in her tutu and fancy dress up shoes, but by the time we got the camera out, Kalia had taken off her outfit. Kalia loves to hold her sister and last night when I was about to give Kalia a bath, she heard Maya crying in the other room and said, "I have to go see baby sister maya, she needs me." Whenever maya cries, she rushes over to comfort her.

I definitely see things getting tough, once Maya is up a little more and requiring more attention (and once my mom leaves!). Last night, I finally put Kalia to bed and then Maya started up for an hour and a half. Then after being up all night again with Maya, Kalia woke up crying this morning- grumpy and mad because she wanted it dark in her room. Did I mention that Kalia learned to open her door when I was in the hospital? Before that, she would just call for us and now the other night, i put her down and she opened the door to see what was going on. Then she climbed onto her Charlie Catapiller rocking horse and turned on her light. When it rains it pours. I'm sure I'll look back and think this was the easy time, once we hit the teenage or tween years with two girls!

maya, maya, papaya...

Maya looks so different with her eyes open. She had a great alert state last night for a while and we got a couple of pictures. She looks so much older with her hair. Kalia definitely has Erik's hair and Maya has the Koga hair. We look forward to seeing her mohawk soon. She is already getting the stand up hair and will definitely have the signature Koga mohawk soon. Kalia still asks every day to hold her "baby sister maya". We have had our third day of outings. Our first outing with Maya was story time at the Coffee Store on Wednesday, we walked down in our sit and stand stroller. Kalia loves the new stroller, where she can stand or sit on the bench or hang by the handle like monkey bars. Thursday we ventured out for lunch at Leilani's - her two week birthday (we took Kalia to Leilani's on her two week birthday too). Today (friday) was our playgroup at the park and there was a great turn out and we had a lot of fun. Maya has slept through most of all of these trips, so it has been pretty easy. Today I put her in the sling and every time I put her in that thing, she is out!

Last night, Maya actually went back to sleep after she got up to nurse! The nights were getting progressively worse and worse, but we had one good night! She was up every 2 hours instead of every 1 to 1 1/2 hours and she wasn't up for multiple hours in the middle of the night. Plus, Erik had her in the living room until midnight, so I got a couple of hours right away. It's funny how two hours can feel so restful, when you've been only getting 30 minutes at a time! And Kalia didn't call for us over and over from bed like she has been and slept in a little too. I won't hold my breath for tonight, but it was a nice change! I felt a little less zombie like this morning.
