haleakala- our day above the clouds

So after our busy trip to California
and fun, but busy visit with Allie,
my mom came and our first day off
we decided to take a nice relaxing trip
to the top of Haleakala.
The 10,000 ft dormant volcano.

which made it pretty freezing for all of us.

poor Maya had moon sickness.
We had watched the IMAX Hubble movie the night before...

we hiked to the duck pond.
Kalia hiked the whole way
and Maya actually hiked 2/3s!

The girls and I headed to Lahaina early for the 4th.
 We had a early yummy dinner at Cool Cats
and then walked down Front Street.
We waited in the long line for Ululani's Shave Ice,
which was totally worth it!
Then we met Scarlett and listened
the Maui Symphony Orchestra.

Allie's Visit

We had such a grea time on vacation,
but it wasn't over yet!
Allie came with us back to Maui
and was had a great time.

Our flight landed in the afternoon
and after we relaxed a bit,
we headed to Leilani's for a sunset dinner.

Here the girls are drinking virgin Anuenues.
Tastes like a rainbow, looks like a sunset.
Kalia was telling me that she "wants to start with sashimi
and then have either shrimp or lobster",
in addition to her virgin specialty drink.
Yup, she's going to be expensive.

After getting shut down at Kapalua Bay,
Baby Beach, we ended up in Kaanapali.
