October days

Kalia's soccer game from a few weeks ago.
Last week was also a great game- they came back from
behind the win the game and Kalia had a few kicks in!

Kalia's 1st Hula Performance
With her hula sisters:)

All ready to go on stage

In the dressing room,
Kalia was so cute- she was so nervous,
she was having a hard time smiling for photos.

About to go on...

I hope these videos work, they were so big I ended up
having to upload them to youtube.
Let me know how they turn out!

Kalia is in the back row- I tried to put her in the middle.
She had missed 3 weeks of hula practice and then we showed up
and there was a performance the next day.
She's been very good at picking up the steps,
but I don't think she was feeling completely prepared!

Yes, I am so proud of this ti leaf skirt- I made this!!!
With the help of a wonderful mom Stephanie,
I made my first ti-leaf skirt.  Woo hoo!

Maya at the soccer game.

Maya's tumbling class.
This was during Kalia's fall break and so you can
see Kalia guiding Maya during the class.
At one point, both me and Coach Sue had to tell
Kalia that Maya could do some things by herself.
It's very cute!

Maya is doing very, very well at tumbling.
She loves it and gets all red and sweaty!
Although, one time towards the end of class,
she said she wanted to go and when I asked her
why later, she said "because I was all hot and sweaty!"
She's been doing backward rolls down the incline
by herself and has a lot of upper body strength!
I think she's happy that she has something
that is all her own- even Kalia has never done tumbling!

So, Kalia has been doing very well on her spelling tests,
but during our parent-teacher conference, Mrs. Kirby
said that we could start picking out additional words to
work on out of her weekly story in her reader as a challenge (since that
is where she gets her extra credit words).
So this week, we went through and picked out more words
to work on: here, what, fire, want, wanted and soup.
Well, on our way to school on the day of her
test, I quizzed her on all except for wanted,
since I said I don't think she will give that one.
So what word was the extra credit? Wanted!
And guess who got it right?  That's right, Miss Kalia.
Go ahead and ask her, she'll tell you:
"I was right and Mommy was wrong".
