meat & potatoes

OK, I was really rushing through the last post and forgot the meat and potatoes of the post.

Maya is just exploding with her language - I know I always say that, but it's really taking off. She uses "all done" when she's done eating and when she's done chewing on her toothbrush (after I brush her teeth), she pointed to some flowers Kalia gave me and said "flowers", when she sits on something and says "wee" that means she wants you to push her. She wants to go "wee" and will say it as you push her back and forth, which can be when she's on her sit & push toy, in a toy stroller or trying to squeeze into Kalia's pink Little People School Bus. She loves to lift up her own shirt or yours and stick her finger in your belly button and say "button". Scarlett came over with Celia yesterday for a playdate and Maya was following the girls around saying "Scarlett" over and over. Celia even thought that it was Kalia calling Scarlett at first. I think Scarlett wasn't used to having a toddler crawl all over her - Maya just thinks that's what you do to people you like - you sit on them. Basically anything that comes out of your mouth, Maya will repeat, but she will repeat it in the right situation. Kalia was riding her bike yesterday and Maya was following her around with her palm out saying "stop". Maya is really into giving "five" and saying "hi" and "bye, bye" very loudly, to everyone. I've been making whole wheat banana muffins and now Maya takes me the kitchen and says "muffin". Kalia had a little cut on her finger the other day and was saying "owie" and so Maya then was saying "owie" and holding out her finger and wouldn't stop until she had a band-aid as well. Oh, and "outside" is what Maya is saying non-stop, she is always at the screen door saying "outside". Well, first she gets out her shoes and brings them over or tries to put them on and then goes to the door and says "outside".

Since we plan to take Kalia to Disneyland for her birthday, we decided to have a smaller birthday celebration here. But it seems like it might be turning into quite the event now. We are doing a princess party and have hand delivered our invites, individually addressed to all the "princesses" to attend the royal celebration of Princess Kalia's 4th birthday. Please come in your most royal attire, etc. You know your small, simple princess party. But Kalia is just inviting a handful of friends from dance/playgroup/school. Anyway, Kalia has declared that when she is older (at least 40 according to me & erik) she wants to get married at Disneyland. Although tonight she told me that she wants to stay with me forever. Kalia did have her long awaited playdate with Scarlett yesterday and I have to say that the volume of high little girl squealing was very high and for quite a long time! It was really fun. As soon as Scarlett left, Kalia declared that she wanted Scarlett to come back over for a playdate right now!
