April Fire Station Trip
I actually made a list this week of things to write on the blog, because every time I sat down at the computer I would forget all the things I wanted to write. We've been having computer problems and it seemed like all was lost, it wouldn't even let me boot up the computer. We had someone come over to look at it today and it turns out it was just stupid spyware taking over the computer. I was seriously having anxiety yesterday without a computer. It's silly, but I just didn't feel...whole knowing that I couldn't get online. Erik tried to remind me that we used to not have computers and we lived without instant access to the internet. I would not listen, I did not want to hear about such a dark time and to think that he expected me to live even for a little while like that. But we're back!
Happy Anniversary Mom & Dad!!!!
The first few photos are of our play group trip to the fire station. I love the photo of Maya, since she always has no idea where we are and she's always in her little car seat, she really could be any where. It was really fun at the fire station -- I really enjoyed the part where they took apart the old BBQ with the jaws of life, it was really cool. They also used this thing...the one you use when they can't get into your house with an axe or chain saw...it's the one they use next and it's really loud and they cut through a cinder block with it...and Maya slept through the entire thing. The girl wakes up whenever Kalia is a little too loud at home, but she sleeps through the firemen cutting through a cinder block and BBQ 20 feet from her! Go figure!
Maya only got up once last night!!!!!!! She slept 5 1/2 hour and then 3 1/2 hours!!!!! Woooo Hooo!!!! Maya needs sleep, if she gets the sleep she needs during the day she is an angel, she's sooooo smiley and talks so much and is sooooo easy. But wake her up once from a nap too early and she is not happy and it can throw her off all day. She is going to be one scary lady when she grows up, she is not afraid to tell you she is unhappy. Today was one such day, she spent most of the late afternoon/evening in her happy place -- the sling, since she was over tired. Kalia really was great towards the end of the day and helped me since I was starting to lose my mind around bedtime.
Kalia has been getting really good at "coloring in the lines". She has been on a coloring page rampage, she really is getting better and better. I really give credit to this Kumon coloring book she has, it has pictures all colored in except for a white circle where she needs to match the color and color in. I think it really taught her what to do. Anyway she has literally colored about 15 pages in the last two days and getting really good. We've been coloring this Dora coloring book, she's been coloring Dora and I only get to color Boots.
The other day Maya was on her play mat and I was doing something in the other room and I came back because she was crying. She was crying because someone was pulling her hair and it was her own hand. She always pulls her hair when she's nursing, but she was pulling it really hard. It was pretty funny.
The other day we were outside playing and Kalia was being so funny. She was racing her shadow and riding her bike around. Then she pushed her tricycle across the grass and parked it in the bike rack. I don't know it was really cute. She really had to work to push it all across the grass and then she stuck it right in with all the other big bikes...it was cute. We normally keep her bike on our lanai and not in the bike rack.
Maya really does like her big sister Kalia. She has been giving her big smiles when she sees her and trying to talk to her. I always think she'll be overwhelmed having an almost 3 year old on top of her, but she always ends up smiling. Although the full body hugs have been a little much lately.
Kalia is always repeating parts of books or shows or songs. The other day Erik and I heard her saying this big sentence and ended with "in 1732". 1732 is the year that George Washington was born from her George Washington book that her cousin Taylor got her. It was just funny, the way she said it in a sentence. Still one of her favorite books...the story of george washington.
Today Kalia said "I'm sad, our puter is broken". Puter = Computer. I wonder where she heard that from....
