may news

BIG NEWS IN MAY! Maya has gone poo poo on the potty! We are very proud. She has gone now a total of 5 times on the potty. The first time was at Celena's house and I will admit that I was sad that I missed that- but then we came home and she went with me and I was so happy! We literally called everyone to announce the big news. Yes, this is a video of her on the potty-but it's the only time I can get her singing and sitting still. It took many tries to get this one, below is an outtake. She would literally sing perfectly and then when I started recording she would get silly.

Outtake. OK, yes she will probably be very mad when she is older and I've posted video of her on the potty.

Maya has also been riding her tricycle a little bit, getting some pedaling in. We are also proud. Both girls are really into playing catch right now.

Let's see- we've had a pretty busy few weeks. We've had a couple birthday parties and baby showers. Kalia is starting to think about her birthday party. We started making her birthday invite list and this is the first year that she really, really has an opinion on who she wants to invite. At first she had two boys that she was willing to invite and I kept adding one more and then another and she said to me, "That's it! No more boys mommy!" Right now she wants to have a bouncy castle, a pinata, a slip and slide and a pool at her party. When we asked her what she wants for her birthday, she went into an elaborate dialogue about a food for fairies and pixie dust.

Kalia's pre-school graduation is this Friday! She will still have school for all of June- but can you believe it? I'm still in denial. Then she has her ballet recital on Saturday.

So tonight Maya didn't want to eat dinner again (it might have been the bag of cashews that she, Kalia & I polished off after 2 hours at the pool), she ate 5 edemame. Anyway, she was cruising around the living and then goes to Kalia's room and comes back and says to us, "Mommy, give me some space!" (she said it several times). Maybe you had to be there, but it was the tone in her voice and the look on her face- like we were flash forwarding 10 years. I do say to Maya "Give your sister some space" when she's lying on her or otherwise invading her personal space and driving her crazy and Kalia has started saying, "Maya give me some space!" But it came out at a really odd time and with such attitude!

This morning, I was completely fired up and wanted to get a bunch of things done- clean, laundry, vacuum and then I wanted to do something really fun with the girls- pool, library- whatever. They were totally unmotivated and at first I'll admit that frustrated me- but they just wanted to cruise at home. So I finally just went with it. We ended up having a tea picnic in Kalia's room and to surprise them, I brought in snacks and the lunch I had made for us to eat out and we had a real picnic. I even put water in the tea pot- the blanket was soaking, but we all had a fun time. Let it go- I really need to do that more.

meant to post these...

Two Monday's ago, we had "Kalia & Mommy" Day.
Here is our picnic at the Lahaina Park, after swimming at the pool,
before going to Barnes & Noble & Yogurtland. Fun Day!
Kalia had a holiday from school, but I didn't tell her- I told her that pre-school
opened late and we had to drop Maya off 1st that day:)

Oooh- this came out sideways.
Kalia made this picture with stickers Auntie Lo sent her, just after Easter.
She has hidden 4 eggs (in the bottom row of the photo),
can you find them?
She thought of this herself.

It's all about the accessories,
she was like this all day long.
She would not be without this purse.

So sorry slacking on the blog lately. We've had a busy week with tutu and grandpa. They've been staying with us this time and truly seeing the craziness that is our life. Let's see - they arrived saturday afternoon, kalia was literally pacing from 12noon "when are tutu & grandpa getting here". torture.

Sunday we went and met them at the Ben Franklin craft show. Monday we had dinner at Duke's and Tuesday was beach day at Napili. Tuesday afternoon the girls made thumbprint cookies with tutu- Kalia was eagerly waiting to make these! Wednesday my parents dropped off the girls to school/Celena's and did the pick up as well! Then they got to watch Kalia's ballet class- it was parent's watch week (Maya and I had to go outside, we were very distracting). Thursday was swim class and since I had a meeting in the afternoon- I just went and met Erik after work and we had a fun date night. Margarita for cinco de mayo and dinner at Lahaina Grill- yum! Tutu and grandpa watched the girls and put them to bed. Friday my parents ran some errands for us while we worked and we all met up for dinner at Hula. Busy week- I'm sure they will need a vacation from their vacation!

We just had a really fun day at the Seabury Craft Show- the girls both road ponies. Photos to come. Erik and the girls are currently doing "secret" stuff behind closed doors for Mother's Day. Both Erik and Kalia are trying to keep Maya from telling me what it is- and this is a very, very difficult feat!
