Sunday was Kalia and Wyatt's 3rd annual birthday party. There was a little pool, slip and slide and clown that did face painting, balloon animals and a magic show. I think everyone had a really good time. Kalia took a little while to warm up to the slip and slide, but ended up having a lot of fun with the water. She also really liked the clown and went right up to her and even got up to be part of the magic show - we were really proud! She also waited to get her hand painted with a pink heart with sparkles.

We had a tinkerbell cake for kalia and a scooby doo cake for Wyatt from cold stone- they were really yummy. We still have a ton of cake in the freezer, if anyone wants some...it's pink inside (strawberry ice cream).

Of course we are still opening presents, because kalia still opens one present then plays with it. But we are enjoying stretching it out. She got a small monkey folding chair and has been sitting outside in it all morning. She also got some tinkerbell panties and those might be the only clothes she wears today.

This morning papa got kalia to go down on all fours and pretend to be a horse so maya could ride on her back along the sidewalk. It was pretty cute, kalia would do almost anything for her sister right now.

So we survived the weekend and everyone had a great time!

Kalia had quite a birthday! We were all awake (me, daddy, papa and maya) waiting for kalia to wake up! We let her wake up and watch one of her shows and have some milk. She finally saw her presents we had waiting for her with a happy birthday banner. Then she opened her presents - very slowly. Of course, when she opened the puzzle from auntie lo and uncle vere, she wanted to stop and put it together. We got her a dollhouse that came with a mommy, daddy and baby. We also got her the big sister and her big girl bed and the baby's furniture. She has been playing non-stop with it. She even slept with the big sister and mommy last night. She has been playing for hours by herself, with ongoing dialogue between the family. I think it's funny because the daddy has been at the computer a lot in the dollhouse and so had kalia's daddy (checking his stocks).

After a breakfast of banana pancakes in the shape of a pig, kalia played with her new things and ran fast in her new tinkerbell slippers. Then we headed off to baby beach - mala side for a birthday day at the beach. Kalia had so much fun in the water, being pulled on her boogie board, riding on daddy's surfboard, playing in the giant hole that uncle greg dug for her and playing with sydney. We were there for 4 hours! Maya had a lot of water time too and really liked it.

Then we came home for more play time with the dollhouse. We bbq'd and sydney and kirk came over. Sydney and Kalia played outside with her squiggle ball. Kalia had such a great time playing with Sydney. We had dinner and then had her tinkerbell cake. Kalia was so exhausted, her eyes were all red, but she just kept going- she was having too much fun playing, being thrown up in the air by uncle greg and running around. It was a great birthday!

We've been putting Maya in the exersaucer, she is a little wobbly, but likes it. She really likes the lion chew toy that was Kalia's favorite too. Yesterday Kalia told Papa (Erik's dad) that the exersaucer was a toy she played with when she was two, but now that she's 3 (for a whole day) she doesn't play with it any longer. Maya also sat up by herself for a little while yesterday - tripod with both hands holding her up. She is now quite the expert roller.

Erik's dad came in Thursday afternoon and we've been very busy ever since. But next blog will detail kalia's birthday.

Maya had her 4 month appointment and she is 13 lbs. 12 oz. and 24 1/2 inches. Maya decided not to sleep on the way to the doctors and we had to wait quite a while, so when the doctor came in, she was really not happy. She wouldn't do any of her tricks for us, she was just mad. Then she had her immunizations and she felt terrible. It was a full 24 hours until she was herself again. Kalia would always be sleepy and maybe a little fussy the day of her immunizations. Maya was so fussy and couldn't sleep or if she did not for long. She cried every time she went into the crib and had to take a few naps in the swing to just get some sleep. The next day at around 11AM she felt better and was her happy self again. She just wanted to be held and would make these sad little noises. Poor thing!

Today I looked in Maya's hand and she had a huge clump of Kalia's hair she had pulled out and Kalia never said a word.

The other night before Maya's bath, I was kissing her tickle spots again, which is really fun - she's a soft, naked baby and she just laughs so loud and long! She grabbed my hair with both hands really close to the scalp and then wrapped her legs around my head. I literally could not get her off me for so long, I started to panic just a little bit. She is so strong! But it would have been pretty funny to see me with a naked baby glued to my head.

Oh, I forgot to mention that Kalia is officially enrolled in the Pre-School at Kapalua starting in August and will be going tuesdays and thursdays! She is getting to be such a big girl!

Maya's sleep going pretty well. That's all I'm going to say.

I'm saying that the honeymoon might be over because for the first time, Kalia has been getting a little upset about maya. All things considered it's pretty amazing how well she is getting along with her baby sister in the house. She still loves maya and plays with her and hugs and kisses her all day. But for the first time, she got upset that maya was playing with her ball. She also "told" on maya the other day, which was really funny. She came to us saying, "maya pulled my hair!" Which i totally believe, maya is such a hair puller right now and she has a crazy grip, it really does hurt! The other day I was kissing her tickle spots on the bed and she got my hair and it took me a long time to get away! The other night while I was nursing maya, she kept grabbing my elastic pajama shirt strap and pulling it to her and letting go - several times, it was rather unpleasant. Kalia has also asked us to put maya to bed for a nap when she wants us to play with her and not hold maya. Pretty funny.

Maya is the sweetest baby, she always gives the biggest smiles when she sees you coming. She is always smiling at kalia and trying to talk to her. The other day we were listening to "tropical hawaiian day" by the ka'au crater boys, kalia's new favorite car song and kalia was singing at the top her of lungs and then maya started in, it was really cute.

Maya is all about tummy time. She will whip around to her tummy if you put her on her back or she will just hang out on her tummy for a long time. The above video is so 4 days ago... she is getting much faster at rolling, but the tummy to back is still a work in progress.

Erik and I both got to surf on Saturday (trading off the girls at home) and then we had a nice family beach day yesterday. Kalia was riding her boogie board and erik was pulling her on some little waves onto the shore. Maya was loving the water. It was a great day!
